Best Show of the Year!

Thunderpussy opened for Black Pistol Fire last night, and the whole show was a scorcher from the first distorted note! Both bands are fantastic, charismatic rock n roll bands that leave it all on the stage -- other than the sweat they drip on the front couple rows. Both guys in Black Pistol Fire put out non-stop energy -- Kevin McKeown (front man, guitar) literally jumps around the stage like he can`t stand still and ventures into and on top of the fans. Really interacts with the crowd. The music is solid, bluesy dirty rock -- they are much heavier and punchier live than on their recordings. I saw them at a smaller venue couple years ago and they have raised their game since then! Do not miss either of these bands when they`re in town. Also as always the El Rey is a great venue for a show -- minimal lines at bar, great acoustics, even security was cool. ... Read more
