Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

Why see Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds?

Supporting their new album 'Wild God'

Don't miss the welcome return of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, when they head out on a new tour in support of their newest record Wild God in 2024.

The weird and wonderful alternative Aussie rocker's live show has been described by Pitchfork as 'consistently exhilarating' as the ultimate, audience-loving frontman brings the snake-hipped charm and manages to deliver intimate performances to sell out arenas.

Summing up his approach to touring, Cave has said. "(Playing) live is about transforming and there's an extraordinary energy that comes from being sandwiched between a hungry audience and a very powerful band."Proving that even after two decades together, there is no plans to stop creating the sometimes tranquil, sometimes spine-chilling, but always incredible, sound that has arguably made them into indie icons.

Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1983, The Bad Seeds have wound their way through many strange sounds over their 15 studio albums, from the quietly rebellious post-punk scene of the 80's to the more garage rock-influenced records of the last few years, with a little bit of a haunted carnival thrown in for good measure. Cave's brooding voice can elegantly navigate even the most crushing narrative and continues to thrive through their stylistic exploration.

Nick Cave the cavernous & the Bad Seeds

Like a Priest, a pontificating pulsating Poet, an orator, a minister of music singing a dirge from his soul, from his pulpit..the stage. Like a binding spell he weaved himself through the crowd with his voice and his body. The screen that usually brings the moments on the stage closer was dark, as if by invitation. As his shadow cast in a stretch, in a splash on the right side of the stage wall. It was maybe the fourth song when people as if in a flood went through the gate there in the standing room only space and seemed to triple in numbers. Nick seemed to sew himself close with those that pressed the stage. His movements were staccato and bass like, the haunting minor chord of sounds from the Seeds accented his whine of psalms echoed on throughout the Greek, as his shadow splashed with sass against the stage wall and curtains, and the screens remained dark as intended. It was nearly biblical the way he seemed to just walk into the crowd stepping lightly and firmly, row by row, embracing the collective in connection. near the end of the show Nick pulled some swooning engaged in the moment women onto the stage, the next thing i know the stage is full of those who had just been in the pit, and then that space seemed to automatically fill with the mesmerized. The Greek theater seemed to be freaking out a bit, as he walked as if on water through the crowd walking on the seats as patrons vacated them to beckon his stride. In between songs sang in his encore, he told his congregation on the stage to sit down. Clearly a rebel move since his time was running long and lovely. It was like going to Church, i feel indoctrinated into something..so the next time Nick cave with all his nooks and cavernous crannies comes to town with those awesome amazing bad seeds, i too plan to be pressed, against the stage, in the pit... where there is standing room only, caught up in that collective, with my arms in the air, in the gathering sway. As told by Mira 6/29/17 ... Read more

HYPNOTIZING- ELECTRIFYING- POWERFUL-A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE

A packed house & NC&TBS rocked the house. The show began w/the eerie penetrating bass from Skeleton Tree to set the mood, the new songs hauntingly beautiful w/Nick captivating the audience straight away. The Bad Seeds carnival of exotic instrumental sounds perfectly accompany Nick's charisma & crooning vocals. I truly wonder why more people in America don't know about these guys who have been performing for decades. A guy in the audience turned to me and asked, "Is Nick Cave really God?" Nick's interaction w/the audience is profound, with hands grasping at him, himself clutching the reaching fingers, pressing himself into the crowd entrusting that they will not let him fall, and they didn't. If anything the audience was a little too tame for my liking buy Nick got them all going by summoning everyone forward to crush in & worship. I won't spoil w/any songs but he did some hard crowd-pleasers as well as mixing in a couple tear jerking ballads. Nick still rocks like a demi-god! ... Read more
