Gerry Dee

Why see Gerry Dee?

Funny You Should Say That tour

Gerry brings his newest stand-up tour, Funny You Should Say That, to you. The former schoolteacher-turned-comedian has conquered Canadian television with his aptly named sitcom Mr. D, about a quirky schoolteacher, along with his hosting gig on Family Feud Canada, and more. Despite entering the comedy scene later than most comics, he draws upon his real-world experiences as a former phys-ed teacher, sharing signature stories about the absurdities of leading a private school classroom and growing up as the son of Scottish immigrant parents, which have endeared him to millions. He also touches on marriage, fatherhood, and the complexities of modern life.

Having won the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Comic three times, those familiar with his work will be remember Dee as a slightly stunned, overly confident sports reporter on The Score (now known as Sportsnet 360), where he interviewed, or attempted to interview the likes of NBA superstar Charles Barkley and numerous league hockey stars, often to painfully hilarious effect.

I like edgy comedy and I had never seen Gerry Dee's stand-up routine before and had only ever seen brief segments of his sitcom so I assumed, based on the little knowledge I had of him, that he would be pretty "vanilla" and his show would not be edgy. I hate "politically correct", "vanilla" humour so I was expecting to be somewhat disappointed. Boy was I wrong! I loved every minute of his show and just wished it coukd have been longer. Great show Gerry!!! Love ya. ... Read more
