Chris de Burgh

Why see Chris de Burgh?

A Better World

Long known as an advocate of romance, Chris de Burgh is instantly recognizable to millions around the globe as the balladeer behind the 1986 mega-hit 'The Lady in Red', a smooth paean to an anonymous woman that set pulses racing. But there is far more to the diminutive British-Irish star than just one tune, and now he launches a new tour with this special Canadian tour, in support of his newest record, The Legend of Robin Hood.

His back catalog explores the supernatural and fantasy, along with more down-to-earth themes of love and loss. It's a folksy sound that's said to be divisive, but altogether his swagger and showmanship manage to win over audiences, thrilling with thoughtful staging and huge shows of gratitude to his many fans.

Still fantastic

He is still fantastic this is the second time we have seen him live, the first was Glasgow, Scotland ,20ish years ago, he was fantastic then and was still the same last night in Edmonton. We have been evacuated from our home in Drayton Valley due to an out of control wildfire and Chris and his music was just the tonic we needed to lift our spirits and help us escape from our worries. Thank you Chris. ... Read more

Absolutely magnificent

This was the first time I have seen Chris in concert and I was thrilled. He really connects with his audience and his music is timeless. The only negative for me was the 2 ladies sitting beside me and the two ladies in front of me in the 33rd and 32nd row that insisted on talking thru the entire concert. Not sure why they came to a concert. Surely it was not to listen to the awesome music. ... Read more

Timeless

The 1st time I saw Chris de Burgh was in 1975 backing up Supertramp. He hasn't lost a step. He is a great balladeer. His voice was great, his music, his storytelling, his jokes, everything was fantastic. He did 3 encores and one of them wa of course, Patricia the Stripper. I certainly got my money's worth. ...
