I saw this masterpiece 4 times- I HAD TO. And, trust me, you will want to as well... the dancing, singing and incredible script and actors. Best play ever. I would take both female and males over the age of 12 to see this show. A 10 year old I know didn’t enjoy the experience because of swearing, a gunshot and the kind of confusing (but not too confusing) plot. In all the seats in the theatre, I could still see the play fairly clearly. And I had really cheap tickets! I bought some beautiful merchandise.

The show has so many captivating moments and sub stories that I was a bit confused at first. But the script is brilliant and the acting even more so. Those elements coupled with Dylan's music captured me and drew me in. I'm only sad McPherson did not make this a book first. It think it would be a "must read" for all high schoolers. Filled with turmoil, hard work, love, and humor, the imagery wraps it all into one sweet package of every emotion. Colin Bates was brilliant......such a versatile actor! So glad I made the trip to Toronto to catch this brilliance!

I was lucky enough to see this production with the Original cast at the Old Vic Theatre in London in October of 2017. From the moment the curtain went up the atmosphere in the theatre was ELECTRIC. The combination of a depressing drama intermixed with Dylan songs works and works on so many levels. I didn't want it to end. A brilliant cast of actors including Shirley Henderson (who gave the performance of her life), Sheila Atim (who's voice was a total surprise for me), Ron Cook (who can portray any character) and Ciarán Hinds (who I would pay to see him read the phone book) made this musical one of the best things I have seen in my 30 years of going to the theatre. I cannot stress just how good this production is. And if Hamilton had not come along (which is brilliant as well, but in a completely different genre) then I'm sure the theatre world would be screaming the praises of TGFTNC for the world to hear. See it: you will NOT be disappointed.

My affection for the people in 1930s dust bowl America was highlighted by this remarkable play/musical. Bob Dylan's music is used in a way to transport you to the world McPherson is portraying. What a cast of actors and musicians alike, I came out of the theatre with a light heart and bittersweet future memories. Go see it especially if uplifting is what you are after.

As a Dylan fan I had high expectations for this musical but was bitterly disappointed. Yes the performances were mostly excellent but the cast deserved better. The music selections were oddly placed, did not move the story along and at times were a complete mismatch to the scene. The story was interesting but it kept get interrupted by songs that made me think WTF. It would have been better as a play without the music. Remember this is coming from a Dylan fan.

My expectations for this musical weren't high, considering I'm not a Bob Dylan fan...so I wasn't exactly disappointed by this depressing, tangled mess. The singing was very uneven and often inarticulate, and the songs were oddly thrown in with tenuous plot connections. The sets seemed flat and the corners were always dark, which worked thematically, I suppose, but were not inspiring. I didn't have a vested interest in a single character. Oh, and SO MUCH SWEARING! If my companion hadn't been enjoying it, I would likely have left at intermission. This show was not my cup of tea.
