Stephen King

October 5, 2017

If you're of a certain age, chances are that Stephen King's writing has cost you some sleep in your life, whether you read the book or watched the movie. A consummate icon at the forefront of modern horror, King's subjects have ranged from high school bullying gone wrong, zombie pets with a grudge, vampires in Maine to a hotel with a mind of its own to ever more horrifying and fascinating subjects. Now, alongside his son Owen (also a novelist) he has penned Sleeping Beauties, a terrifying look at a female deficient future.

World-renowned South African singer, songwriter, activist and anthropologist Johnny Clegg broke down racial barriers and created music just as colourful as his homeland, defying apartheid by forming two high successful multi-racial bands (Juluka and Savuka) in the late 70s and 80s. Blending Western pop with the rhythms of the Zulus, Clegg, who earned the honorary nickname the White Zulu, is now saying a fond farewell on his last ever tour, entitled The Final Journey.

From amazing child prodigy to breathtaking virtuoso, Joshua Bell has performed with every major orchestra worldwide. He came to national attention at the age of 14 in a highly acclaimed orchestral debut with Riccardo Muti and the Philadelphia Orchestra. A Carnegie Hall debut, the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, and a recording contract further confirmed his presence in the music world.

The Hot Sardines

April 14, 2018

The Hot Sardines breathe new life into vintage jazz, bringing the sounds of 1920's Paris, New Orleans and New York bang up to date with just the right sprinkling of irony. The exuberance of their playing and the contemporary tones of frontwoman Miz Elizabeth ensure that their music never sounds dated.

A player of peerless speed and insight, Yuja Wang is one of the finest pianists alive today. Born in Beijing, she began piano lessons at the age of six, and was instantly enthralled by the instrument. Completing her formal education at the Curtic Institute for Music in Philadelphia, it wasn't long before she was performing with likes of Gustavo Dudamel and Charles Dutoit.
